The National Park Service officially turned 100 on August 25th, but they’ve been celebrating the entire year. To encourage folks to go and visit our beautiful national parks, they are waiving entrance fees on certain weekends, and one of those weekends is upon us! If you happen to live close enough to a national park to easily get there, do it! Leave now! Be spontaneous and enjoy the parks! Let go of whatever you had planned this weekend and just go. In Texas there are 14 national parks, the most infamous of them being Big Bend, of course.
Although we weren’t able to make it out there this particular weekend, my partner and I are heading out west next weekend, just in time for the long Labor Day weekend. This will be my first time camping at Big Bend and I’m so so so excited to sleep under those starry night skies.
